Malawi Board of Directors
Gracian Zibelu Banda is a practicing Lawyer specializing in environment and development law and policy. He also holds a Master of Laws in International Economic Law. He has been involved in environmental policy and law making in Malawi and southern Africa since 1994. He has served as Lecturer in Law at the School of Law, University of Malawi and Regional Environmental Lawyer for IUCN Regional Office for Southern Africa. He is a member of the IUCN Commission on Environmental Law. Gracian is a founding member of Center for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA) in Malawi. He is serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for ASAP Africa in Malawi.
Mr. Chokani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the Polytechnic University of Malawi where he won many honors including Best Faculty of Commerce Student. He has several distinctions in his field and extensive experience in finance management and investments. He has worked for companies including Deloitte and NICO Holdings, Inc.
Priska Ellen Munthali
Ms. Munthali received a BS in Agriculture from the University of Malawi and a MS in Agriculture from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. She has vast knowledge in efficient use of resources to benefit communities and has worked for the Ministry of Agriculture in Malawi for many years. She brings over 14 years of necessary skills in agriculture and rural development to our Board.
Dr. Wilson Gondwe
Dr. Gondwe has a PhD from Cornell University in Agricultural Economics. He has an outstanding career in agriculture research, serving as the Malawi National Agriculture Research Coordinator from 1996-2003, and then the Assistant Director of Agriculture Research Services in Malawi in 2002. From 2006 he worked at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture as the Coordinator of Horticulture Network for Angola, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, and South Africa. Dr. Gondwe has taught agriculture at the University of Malawi. He has served on a number of steering committees and advisory boards, worked and studied internationally, and is well publishedVictor holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and a Masters degree in Marketing Sciences, both from the University of Cyprus. He has over a decade of experience managing community development programs notably as National Program Coordinator for the National HIV/AIDS and Sustainable Livelihoods Program through Save the Children US for 6 years. He gained extensive experience in working with community based programs whereby disadvantaged women are primary beneficiaries. Before joining ASAP, he worked as the Marketing and Public Relations Manager with the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service for four years, whereby he successfully enhanced the impact of the services provided. He brings with him years of technical experience in program design, implementation and management and is leveraging these experiences as a leader and manager of ASAP.
